MySpace has more PageViews than Yahoo and Who Cares
There’s a story over on TechCrunch today spouting new Comscore numbers that MySpace is now bigger in pageviews than Yahoo – It’s Official(ish): MySpace Is Biggest Site on Internet.
Someone please explain to me what exactly a pageview is on MySpace?
Next, how does a pageview on MySpace relate to a pageview on Yahoo? They don’t in any way!
In a world of “Less is More” and “Attention Scarcity” why do we continue pretending that 20th century mass market measurement models matter? I guess for the remaining mass marketers out there.
MySpace is aggregated people – the attention is the media. Yahoo is a 1.0 portal with a few recent 2.0 acquisitions – the content is the media. You can’t compare the two in pageviews. It’s a meaningless metric in this context.
